SAFETRAC announces the immediate availability of two new courses - Debt Collection & General Insurance Code of Practice

SAFETRAC's new Debt Collection course focuses on the legal obligations on collectors and creditors in the collection of debts, with particular reference to individual debtors.

Many of the principles are also relevant to the process of collecting business debts.

The course covers both the Trade Practices Act 1974 and the Australian Securities and Investments Commission Act 2001 (ASIC Act). It focuses on the guidelines that apply to debt collection as published by the ACCC and ASIC.

General Insurance Code of Practice

The Insurance Council of Australia Limited has developed the General Insurance Code of Practice (the "Code") as a voluntary code of practice for use by all insurers.

Although no specific consumer redress is provided by this Code, it requires participating insurers to establish both internal and external procedures, and sanctions may be imposed upon insurers, by the Code Compliance Committee, if they fail to meet the Code's requirements.

The SAFETRAC General Insurance Code of Practice course focuses on this Code and ensures that all employees within an organisation that has signed up to the Code are trained on the code and understand and abide by it.
